Tachinomiya, UmedaPosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 16 February 2007 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. "Tachinomiya" are standing-only bars. Usually a lot cheaper than a regular sit-down izakaya (Japanese bar/pub). Usually no-frills, and serving traditional, simple izakaya food. Traditionally popular at day's end for working men, there are some around these days which are perhaps a bit more up-market and trendy. This isn't one of them. Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Ins@no from Porto, PortugalLove the perspective, the white in the upper interferes a bit with the eye, perhaps more contrast with the logos. Cheers, 16 Feb 2007 8:30am @Ins@no: Thanks, I'll give it a try. Colour blind from Tokyo, JapanHope you went in for some takawasa mate and some hot sake after work. I love these places. IN my old town I had a stand up sushi place which was the bomb!!! Love the repetition of the beer kegs. 16 Feb 2007 1:11pm @Colour blind: Yeah, they are cool places aren't they?
