Industrial Rokko 2

Posted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 20 February 2007 in Business & Industry and Portfolio.

Again, not a beautiful scene - not a beautiful place - but I really liked something about the space and the light at this spot. My wife thinks this isn't a good picture... but what the hell I'm posting it.

Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Craiger from Vacaville, California, United States

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! You've captured great light here! Very well done!

@Craiger: Thank you Craiger!

Sylvia from Milano, Italy

I like it, the water on one side, the freeway on the other, the water is soft, so is the sky---balanced. It's a little busy, but it works for me. Also I LOVE industrial/urban shots, I think they can be a lot more interesting in terms of stories than just nature and still lifes!

@Sylvia: Cheers Sylvia!

Josie Soho from Noho, United States

Hi Daroru, I agree with Sylvia here. I love the grittiness of man shown next to the beauty of nature.
I am also a big fan of shooting lights on in daylight. The oxynoronic nature of it appeals to me.

Yesterday's shot was great too!

@Josie Soho: Thanks Josie. Yeah, I think I'm going to try to get more lights/daytime shots. I find that interesting too.

Michael Zhang from New York City, United States

I think the exposure is great - it's not easy to expose both for a sunset and the foreground buildings.

@Michael Zhang: Oh Michael, if only that were down to skill as opposed to luck... thank you!

frank from amadora, Portugal

Okay, we can agree that is not a beautiful place, but the photo is very good, once again good tones, lovely colors.

@frank: thanks for your comment frank!

Carol from Turkey

An excellent industrial shot against the hills. Beautiful light.

20 Feb 2007 9:22pm

@Carol: Cheers Carol!

joaobelard from Lisboa, Portugal

It may not be as beatiful as nature, but it sure is a nice shot. Love the sky and the hills.

20 Feb 2007 10:35pm

@joaobelard: Cheers joaobelard. Sky and hills can make you forgive a lot in a photo!

Ahraht from Loures, Portugal

Yes your right the shot is great. Probably I would not like the place either.

20 Feb 2007 11:31pm

@Ahraht: Thank you Ahraht. And of course what the photo can't tell you about is the chemical smell in the air...

Bronnie from Christchurch, New Zealand

The light is amazing, the sky really makes this shot - it's a slice of the world we live in, so I like it for that alone. The smell, well we can't register that, which is probably a good thing!

20 Feb 2007 11:49pm

@Bronnie: Yeah... time to change subjects. My lungs can't take it! Cheers Bronnie.

filipe franco from Lagoa, Azores, Portugal

yes, another beautiful image my friend, this time with a romantic touch. In this case, I like the association of two ideas supposedly opposite: Industrial zone / romantic calm in the end of the day! Great work

Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, Japan

I liked the scene and the colors!
