When you travel around Japan, you'll see souvenir shops selling lots of special regional food and drink, including special regional variations on snack food. I love collecting this stuff; these are eel-flavoured 'Jyagariko' from Shizuoka (eel's famous there). Jyagariko are my favourite snacks in Japan. Just as I missed salt and vinegar or cheese and onion crisps when I left England, Jyagariko are what I'd miss if I left Japan.
