Danjiri MatsuriPosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 18 September 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. Start of a small series taken at this festival, held in Kishiwada, Osaka last weekend. Huge floats (danjiri) are pulled through the town, at fast and dangerous speeds, manned by crews representing various town guilds. Guild members dance and jump around on top of the floats, which is particularly dramatic as the crews pull the floats even faster around street corners!
Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!
