Danjiri Parade, SonodaPosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 31 October 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. Now that autumn is well and truly here, lots of local neighbourhoods parade their danjiri (floats) around the streets. These parades are quite low-key, very local, but with a great atmosphere. Local families accompany the floats, wandering around the neighbourhood - much like families go Trick or Treating at Hallowe'en in Western countries. Big contrast with the Danjiri Matsuri in Kishiwada, Osaka in September: http://digitalguff.aminus3.com/image/2007-09-18.html Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!
