View of Hiwasa from Yakuoji TemplePosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 18 January 2008 in Landscape & Rural. Hiwasa town, Tokushima prefecture. You can just see Hiwasa Castle on the right side, and you can see Snail Island in the middle of the top of the shot - can anyone guess why it's called Snail Island? Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

How did you work out how to leave comments? Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanVery good choice of position.....the result is very attractive! 18 Jan 2008 1:08pm @Japanalia: Cheers Gabriela! Wolfgang Prigge from CanadaGood one, maybe a little more of the castle would have been better, the light of the low sun is perfect, and the snail shape of the island comes out really well. 18 Jan 2008 1:23pm @Wolfgang Prigge: Thanks Wolfgang! Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada"Tight-knit and slow?" Great, wonderful compo DAroru, merveilleux!!!! Look at that I just spotted the snail right smack in the middle ;) 18 Jan 2008 2:34pm @Lorraine: Well spotted Lorraine! Thanks! Laurie from Lincoln, United StatesThis is cool! I like how everything in the image just pulls the eye to the ocean! Great job! =-) 18 Jan 2008 6:30pm @Laurie: Cheers Laurie! Pouhou from Apeldoorn, NetherlandsI would like to see a little bit more of the left side 19 Jan 2008 4:24am @Pouhou: Believe me, you don't want to... Aayawa from Edinburgh, United KingdomVery good, The perspective makes it seem flat, like a Hiroshige print. 19 Jan 2008 8:16pm @Aayawa: Thanks Aayawa. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesVery nice. It reminds me of one of the little fishing villages I've seen in an Ozu movie. 20 Jan 2008 4:04pm @Twelvebit: It is basically a small fishing town. I think this time of year, and in the summer, when sea turtles come to lay their eggs, are busy seasons, but it is probably very peaceful usually in Hiwasa. ZENTY from Brescia, Italywow, this pictures are very suggesting!!!! good the choice of colours...and the perspective too!! 22 Jan 2008 3:37pm @ZENTY: Thank you ZENTY (or do you prefer Laura?!) |
