View of Hiwasa from Yakuoji Temple

Hiwasa town, Tokushima prefecture. You can just see Hiwasa Castle on the right side, and you can see Snail Island in the middle of the top of the shot - can anyone guess why it's called Snail Island?
Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future.

Because it looks like a snail...lol...obvious.I like how you chose the vantage point and all the S lines in the picture leading to the snail.

Good one, maybe a little more of the castle would have been better, the light of the low sun is perfect, and the snail shape of the island comes out really well.

Very nice. It reminds me of one of the little fishing villages I've seen in an Ozu movie.

@Twelvebit: It is basically a small fishing town. I think this time of year, and in the summer, when sea turtles come to lay their eggs, are busy seasons, but it is probably very peaceful usually in Hiwasa.
