Mikan Stall, Kochi MarketPosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 31 January 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. Mikan are Mandarin oranges. Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

@Michael Skorulski: Thanks Michael. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaWonderful photo and yum...I'd love to see it in colours ;) 31 Jan 2008 9:46am @Lorraine: Thanks Lorraine. I thought this had some nice textures in b/w which is why I didn't go with colour... Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanWHY didn't you let us see the mikan in colour? They look so fine, like pieces of the sun! 31 Jan 2008 1:02pm @Japanalia: Yeah. Sorry about that. Wolfgang Prigge from CanadaI don't know why, but I get the feeling this was a cold day... 31 Jan 2008 2:46pm @Wolfgang Prigge: It was Wolfgang; end of December! Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI like the B&W here, it puts the emphasis on form. I really like all these round objects on the table. 31 Jan 2008 4:17pm @Twelvebit: Thank you Twelvebit. That's what drew me to the scene. Wanted to focus on that more than the colour. Laurie from Lincoln, United StatesNice b&w image! Love all the round shapes, too! =-) Great job! 31 Jan 2008 5:26pm @Laurie: Thank you Laurie! standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceVery nice composition. I like the diagonal 31 Jan 2008 9:31pm @standley: Merci standley! Ahraht from Loures, PortugalIn little boxes? Superb... The composition and tones are excelent. Nice cool picture. 31 Jan 2008 10:01pm @Ahraht: Thank you Ahraht! This is a very common way to display fruit and veg in Japan. @Brites: Thanks Brites! @Jen: Cheers Jen! JoeB from Brampton, CanadaThe shapes are sharp and the woman's face is blurred which has made wonder about her. I would have liked colour for the mandarins. 1 Feb 2008 2:44am @JoeB: Thanks JoeB. I was interested in the textures and the layout here (see my response to Twelvebit), and the colour, while beautiful, was kind of a distraction from what I wanted to focus on. But you know... orange. chris chisu from Seattle, United StatesBig wow here. Beautiful contrast...So powerful. Just love it. 1 Feb 2008 4:37am @chris chisu: Thank you chris! akarui from Kagoshima, JapanNice contrast and composition. 1 Feb 2008 4:39am @akarui: Yes! I usually browse photos on small actually. Maybe I should try the large setting! thanks for your comment akarui. Hoirkman Szeßht from Beandoaf, GermanyI like the structure of the b/w pic.
