More sushi on display at a fish market in Kochi city, Shikoku. Saba is mackerel in English. This fish is slightly grilled (aburi in Japanese). Saba can have quite a strong 'fishy' taste I think when you have it raw, but this was so fresh, and with the grilled taste, it was absolutely delicious.

@Lorraine: Cheers Lorraine!
WOW!!! My husband likes saba!!! I can eat it, but I find rather fat...that is it leaves a fat feeling in your mouth after eating it! If you fry it at home.....you're in for a fishy fragrance all day long!You found a most appetizing angle here! I dare say.....you're teasing us!

@Japanalia: I know the smell after you've cooked saba Gabriela! Although I do like it cooked, more so than raw. It is an oily fish - but fish oil's good, no? This one in the photo was the best raw saba I've ever had. I was a bit dubious before trying it, but... no fishy taste!
I like sushi but this is the first time that I've seen those packed with head and tail. I'm willing to make a try.

@vu@granby: It's good Gilles - some people eat the head too.
i don't usually like the kind of oversaturated color look but for some reason it works okay here. neat color.

I like this abstract food shot a lot. And it's not a good shot for me right now. I'm very hungry at the moment and this... :((
