The Ride to Matsuyama CastlePosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 26 February 2008 in Cityscape & Urban. ...And this is how you get up to Matsuyama Castle. Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

@Nick Passantino: Tell me about it.... thanks Nick. Elle from Sydney, AustraliaHow was the ride? Never sat on these type of chairs before! Must be really thrilling :) Anyway, great view of the place! Love that I can see the human and physical environment. 26 Feb 2008 1:02pm @Elle: Thanks Elle. It was quite slow but a bit unnerving having no seat belt. The chairs do rise high away from the ground at one point. There was always a safety net underneath, but it being made of wire didn't exactly reassure me. Still, only 5 people have died on the ride in 10 years. Not bad. Levine from Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaWOw this is really interesting way of transportation. im just wondering, is there a seat belt on this thing? 26 Feb 2008 3:32pm @Levine: No seat belt! Thanks Levine. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanWell....I think thay need a cable car. In summer, it might be fine.....but in winter...Anyway, better than having to do the climbing to the top! Not all people are that athletic! You survived, which means that it works! Now....what wouldn't a passionate photographer do just to capture the things he wants to????? 26 Feb 2008 3:36pm @Japanalia: Thank you Gabriela! @DaveB: Cheers Dave! standley from Brou-sur-Chantereine, FranceVery impressive perspective! Were you the only one aboard? 26 Feb 2008 9:31pm @standley: Thanks standley. There were people coming down behind me (it was the end of the day so no-one going up). vu@granby from Granby, Québec, CanadaNever try that kind of chairlift, I use to ride on ski chairlift with a safety bar. 26 Feb 2008 9:58pm @vu@granby: Thanks Gilles! MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomI don't think I would have been able to sit on it, I would have had to do the climb, a brilliant shot though. 26 Feb 2008 10:51pm @MaryB: Thank you Mary! Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomI like the ebb and flow of this image, the ride up to the castle looks exciting. 26 Feb 2008 11:41pm @Richard_Irwin: Cheers Richard. @Barbara: Thanks Barbara. @eddie: Cheers eddie! DarkElf from Perth, Australiathats' a really great point of view - i like how my eyes follow the ride to the city in the background... 27 Feb 2008 4:48am @DarkElf: Thanks DarkElf! @Damon Schreiber: Bit chilly though... Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesPersonally, I don't like those kinds of rides (acrophobia), and I don't see any seat belts. 28 Feb 2008 3:40pm @Twelvebit: Yep, no seat belts Twelvebit! danthro from Suburbia, United Statesthis shot's pretty cool too. i have to agree with twelvebit that i wouldn't want to go up in there though. 28 Feb 2008 5:51pm @danthro: I was a little nrevous, but it was very slow and not windy... Thanks danthro! aishah razi from johor, Malaysianice perspective and view...i can see the contrast between the modern building and the green trees as a frame, that's was nice!!! good job and hope can learn from you... GANBATTE KUDASAI !!;P 2 Mar 2008 5:46pm @aishah razi: Thank you aishah! |
