Friendly LocalsPosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 7 March 2008 in Animal & Insect. Looking over the edge of the train platform (from March the 4th's shot). They were very curious about the people above them. Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

@Dara: I think so Dara! ManuelaR from Hainburg, GermanyPoor things tied up all day... they look friendly though! 7 Mar 2008 9:56am @ManuelaR: The white one seemed very friendly. Don't worry, this was right next to their owner's house... @malahat: Thanks malahat... I'm sorry I don't speak your language... Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaCan't believe I'm saying that but I hope it's not too hot...there's no shade for them...and the huge bowl is empty...HEY!!! they are beautiful...good catch Daroru 7 Mar 2008 12:36pm @Lorraine: Lorraine, this was basically the garden of their house. Don't worry, very near their owners! And as for being hot, it was New Year, so luckily it was absolutely freezing cold. Japanalia from Yokohama, KenyaMaybe...they get the "show" quite seldom! Maybe...they hope somebody's going to give them some water, it seems the owner forgot this minimun form of caring! 7 Mar 2008 1:55pm @Japanalia: I don't think they were too neglected (see above,,,). I think people maybe throw the odd bit of food down to them, as we did! Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomBut I bet they wouldn't like you stepping on their patch - friendly from a distance I would think 7 Mar 2008 2:08pm @Richard_Irwin: We saw them down on the ground as well, the white one was very pleased to see us; the beige shiba was a bit more wary! @michelle: They were michelle! standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceVery nice capture. Friendly from far I think! 7 Mar 2008 10:54pm @standley: No no, they really were friendly standley! @Lyd: Cheers Lyd! @Evelyn: Thanks Evelyn! Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI hate to see dogs chained like that. It makes me want to take a chain to the owners. 14 Mar 2008 1:21am @Twelvebit: Its pretty common here. This was right by their house though, basically the owners' backyard. Its not seen as anything strange or cruel in Japan for bigger dogs to be chained up outside, and these dogs were quite happy things, not nervous or aggressive, suggesting they weren't being mistreated. However, like you, I personally would not treat my dogs this way... |
