View Toward Shikoku from Washuzan

Posted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 16 March 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

That's the end! This view from the Honshu mainland toward Takamatsu on Shikoku island is the last in the series of my New Year trip around Shikoku that I've been posting since January.

Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future.

I'm in a new job now - the first time I've had a full time job since I started on Aminus3. I apologise in advance if I'm suddenly a bit tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments... I will get to you though!

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

A shot full of atmosphere! I like the silhouette of the bridge crawling like a huge snake from island to island. And the mountainbacks in the haze are full of poetry!

vu@granby - Wolfgang from Granby, Quebec, Canada

Very nice, I like the feeling of distance given by the progressively paler mountains in the background.
P.S.: Your question about the edibility of the "barbotte" yesterday: Yes, they are edible, although I don't like their taste. They are bottomfeeders in murky water... Also, in the particular case of our little local lake, there is still quite a bit of pollution in the water, so the health authorities suggest not to eat them more than once a month, for me that is just another reason not o eat any.

16 Mar 2008 2:53pm

@vu@granby - Wolfgang: Thanks Wolfgang!

Based on your information, I wouldn't want to eat a barbotte either - even once a month!

akarui from Kagoshima, Japan

Beautiful picture with all those bridges and the view on shikoku. May be a little bit of rotation? this is not an horizon that we see and the bridge poles might be vertical, just a feeling of leaning on the left :)

17 Mar 2008 2:20am

@akarui: Thanks akarui. Now you mention it...
