Shinjuku Park 3

Posted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 11 April 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

I don't know what kind of trees these are, does anyone know?

Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

might have said before...but really like these shinjuku park shots a lot...not images you would immediately associate with japan, let alone tokyo...bleak, stark with a sense of melancholy...

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

I can tell what what they are: plane trees (Platanus) in the French garden side of the Shinjuku Gyoen. I favour them in autumn, their big palmate leaves turn golden yellow and it is a sight to see! The leaves make a wonderful carpet to sink your feet in! But in spring they barber them in such a terrible way!!!
Your processing created a special atmosphere which reminds me of a scene from Lord of the Rings - where the Shepherds of the Trees hold a meeting!

30 Apr 2008 10:15am

@Japanalia: Plane trees eh? Now I know! Thanks Gabriela.

ManuelaR from Hainburg, Germany
