Houses in the Trees, WakayamaPosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 22 June 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. One of the professors at my university took us to his place in Wakayama prefecture for a barbecue after we finished his course. It was a beautiful and peaceful location... Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesCape Cod house in the foreground. A mixture of New England and Japan. 23 Jun 2008 10:39pm @Twelvebit: Yes; very interesting, and not usual in Japan... Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanOf course the location is beautiful, at least when the trees have leaves, the houses really look like perrching in the trees! Are there no landslides in the area? 27 Jun 2008 11:17am @Japanalia: I have no idea Gabriela. Our professor said how solid the house was, with steel supports and foundations bolted down to the underlying bedrock (these houses are typically three stories... quite narrow but innovative design...) zohre from Dubai, United Arab EmiratesWonderful composition and beautiful place! :) 28 Jun 2008 2:08pm @zohre: Thank you zohre! |
