I had been living in such suburb during a stay in Tokyo. The atmosphere seems to be the same.

That big pipe in tomorrow's shot is an interesting element that doesn't show up in this shot. Is this area either below sea level or part of some kind of containment system to prevent flooding?

You're right Twelvebit it's something to do with preventing flooding...
