Semi is Japanese for cicada.
This is the shell of the cicada, which is moulted after the cicada emerges from underground.
Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future.

@Japanalia: I'm always scared by things like wasps which can hurt you, not these kinds of things! It's funny, other friends of mine are scared by big bugs but not by wasps or hornets...
