Semi 5Posted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 16 August 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. Semi is Japanese for cicada. Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

@Veronelle: Thanks Veronelle! Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomDaryl, I was wondering, do they come into your houses, and how long do they live for....? 16 Aug 2008 5:17pm @Observing: No Mike, they don't come in the house, they just climb out of the ground, find an elevated place to moult, then fly away. They live years underground as larvae, but once they moult and start flying they only live a few weeks. @Twelvebit: Thank you Twelvebit! @alla: Thanks alla! Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanThis is an impressive image!!! Love that shadow on the grey slab! 23 Aug 2008 4:10am @Japanalia: Cheers Gabriela! Sylvain from Trois Rivieres, CanadaThis bug doesn't seem very nice, but I love the shadows :) 12 Oct 2008 7:50pm @Sylvain: Don't worry Sylvain, it's just a shell! Thanks! |
