Habu! Caution!Posted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 8 November 2008 in Miscellaneous. I recently had my first-ever trip down to Okinawa, just for a weekend unfortunately, but I had a great time. I only stayed in Naha city so have yet to see the sights of the rest of the region. I'm now really keen to go back for a longer period and see much more of this beautiful area. To start off with, here's a warning placed in undergrowth near Naha's Shuri Castle, regarding the famous venomous Okinawan snake, the habu (a kind of pit viper). Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Doug from Long Beach, United StatesGood that they include the picture on the sign. And a very realistic rendering of the snake at that. 10 Nov 2008 4:59am @Doug: Isn't it just? You would definitely recognise one if you saw one! Cheers Doug. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesPit vipers are nasty, but the little guy in the icon looks pretty sweet to me. 11 Nov 2008 12:35am @Twelvebit: Welcome to Japan! |
