A Local Place for Local PeoplePosted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 11 January 2009 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio. Arashiyama's a great place an' all, but the local inhabitants were a bit strange I found. Every time I turned around, I found this bunch following me, making a half-hearted attempt to hide somewhere and look nonchalant. It was a bit off-putting after a while. Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Zorilla from H, T & E, United Kingdom"A bit offputting"? Isn't that like being a bit pregnant? I may not know exactly how I'd feel if I encountered bear golems (for that is what they appear to be) but I think my reactions would be a bit more decisive than "oh, they're a bit offputting". 11 Jan 2009 3:36pm @Zorilla: Thanks Zorilla! Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaHa! I think they wanted you to share all the sake you were carrying. 11 Jan 2009 8:00pm @Damon Schreiber: Aha! So that's the answer... @Cheryl: Cheers Cheryl! Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesThat's a great looking family. This kind of imagery is what informs and distinguishes Japanese anime. 12 Jan 2009 3:08pm @Twelvebit: Thanks Twelvebit; these tanuki are a famous part of Japanese folklore. Rachel from Charleville-Mézières, FranceCes personnages sont tout aussi sympathiques que surprenants. 18 Jan 2009 1:20pm @Rachel: Merci Rachel! |
