Kibitsu Shrine, Okayama 8

Posted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 9 September 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio.

The long corridor, following the contours of the underlying land, is another famous feature of this shrine.

Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Lovely the way this holds together . . the toning further helps impress the robust strength of the structure here.

i love all this wood -- so natural and relaxing... plus everything is so BIG in japan... the logs, the temples, the buddhas... it makes me feel humble yet at ease. :)
