A Day on the Water, Ushimado 9Posted by Daryl Johnson (Farnham, United Kingdom) on 17 October 2009 in Landscape & Rural. A small farm on an island near Ushimado. Notice the shed near the waterline! Although I'm now in England, this blog will still feature photos from Japan for the foreseeable future. I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesThat farm is so tidy. The shed looks as though it almost got washed away. 17 Oct 2009 4:57pm @Steve Rice: Thanks Steve. I wondered why they even bothered keeping the shed there... @akarui: Possible, Olivier! Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanA reminder of a typhoon, maybe...or a landslide......This is quite a familiar type of view in Japan and whenever I see one such image I wonder for the thousandth time WHY do they build so close to the shore? In a country where people live with earthquakes and tsunami and typhoons and landslides this attitude appears to me as suicide! Or...a kind of fatalism that I cannot comprehend! 18 Oct 2009 2:22am @Japanalia: Ah but the Inland Sea is quite well protected isn't it? bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaYikes, that shed seems to be not in very good shape at all. 18 Oct 2009 3:34am @bluechameleon: It's seen better days for sure! @Twelvebit: It does! |
