It's 'hanami' season in Japan at the moment - that means getting outside to see the cherry blossoms (sakura), and more often than not means sitting under the sakura trees drinking alcohol.

Weather's been a bit overcast unfortunately, as you can see from this shot. They say that next week will be the peak time to see the blossoms; hope the weather improves. As you can tell, even if the weather isn't that great, it doesn't stop people enjoying themselves.

This was taken in Shukugawa, Hyogo prefecture, a very popular hanami spot near where I live.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Miguel from Stockholm, Sweden

Cool to see the sakura blossom and that so many people take time to just enjoy life - even though the weather isn't perfect. More hanami for the people :)

I like 'Hanami' season a lot, it is so nice to see the Sakura and to feel a happy atmosphere, people smiling and enjoying, great times, nice shot Daroru!

A moment of relax and peace captured well. I detach the point of escape (boy of red shirt in the last plan). A fantastic composition

@filipe franco: Thank you filipe. Actually, if you're there, it's not so peaceful! Lots of noisy people getting drunk!

frank from amadora, Portugal

Beautifull colors and nice composition, good work.

Mike Cash from Kiryu, Japan

The touted Japanese love of sakura and hanami is just so much hooey, in my opinion. It's an excuse to drink, pure and simple. Not that I have a problem with the drinking, it's just the self-delusion that bugs me.

@Mike Cash: Let it go Mike... Can't you feel spring is in the air?
