I got to the market too late this day; everything was closed up!

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Superb B&W street shot, it's a bit busy, but that is the beauty of the place :)

Twelvebit from Victoria, United States

Interesting turn of phase --closed "up" instead of closed "down."

@Twelvebit: Maybe that's a British English thing..? 'Closed down' means out-of-business, gone, finished for good. 'Closed up' is what happens to a store at the end of each day. You guys don't use 'closed up'?

marc from France

we all are not helped by electric threads, but that is the true life,
this shot is true life, good choise for the B&W

@marc: That certainly is life! Thanks marc.

Twelvebit from Victoria, United States

Actually, I use "closed up" myself, but I don't think the terms are used here with the precision you suggest. I was ruminating on the way we use words in English and how something can be both closed up and closed down.

@Twelvebit: This is why people get frustrated with our language...!
