Tidying Up

Tidying up on the grounds of a shrine in Arashiyama, Kyoto.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Sweeping the moss. When I visited Kyoto, I saw women with little bamboo tools carefully pulling weeds out of the moss in some of the gardens. This is a very interesting image.

@Steve Rice: Thank you Steve!

Laurie from New Jersey, United States

I have never seen anything like this before. I guess you cannot rake moss so it must be swept. Nice shot with the little motion blur.

@Laurie: Cheers Laurie. I think you must be right about sweeping not raking; makes sense!

The woman's feet seem to float over the moss and I like the broom's swirling too.
