Inuyama Castle

Posted by
Daryl Johnson (Worcester Park, United Kingdom) on 31 March 2010 in Landscape & Rural.

One of Japan's few remaining original castles built before the Edo period, and equally unusually, until recently it was still privately owned by the original feudal family.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to take a little break from posting - I've done my back in! There's no way I can sit at the computer right now (I'm typing this in bed on my wife's laptop). Hopefully I'll be feeling better before too long.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Damon Schreiber from Toronto, Canada

Best of luck in your recovery! Lovely castle. Btw, I heard from my wife who just returned from a short trip to Japan that Himiji Castle is being renovated for the first time in 50 years and will be closed to visitors for the next two years or so. (So the crowds to get in were crazy when she visited.)

12 Apr 2010 2:19am

@Damon Schreiber: Thanks Damon! I heard that restoration will be going until 2014. Glad I got a final look at it last year...
