Breakfast Shock

Posted by
Daryl Johnson (Worcester Park, United Kingdom) on 18 August 2012 in Food & Cuisine.

Breakfast in our hotel in the Cotswolds. While the rest of us tucked into some lovely smoked haddock with poached eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding and pancakes, my wife was disappointed to find out what the menu described as 'dippy egg and soldiers' was - it's a phrase not familiar to Japanese people when talking about boiled eggs and toast.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

I can understand the disappointment. I just got abck from Scotland and enjoyed (many times) the breakfast you described.

I'm not surprised since I've never heard that phrase either. I would be more than a little disappointed. ;-) It does look to be cleverly displayed though.
