Is it a museum? Is it still a private property with someone living within the precincts? I understand that some owners of grand houses choose to turn their property into hotels (not always the best choice and rather costly) or great houses open to visitors, while the family still occupy part of the house. And generally they have great gardens, too. We saw some such documentaries on TV and it made me believe that it is by far much more interesting to visit the country than to visit London!
