Arrival at the Ryokan, Ibusuki 2

Posted by
Daryl Johnson (Worcester Park, United Kingdom) on 17 August 2013 in Lifestyle & Culture.

On entering the ryokan, guests remove their shoes and change into slippers to wear inside the hotel. You can see children's slippers, arranged on the left, as well as those for adults.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Richard Standley from Carquefou, France

I like the colours and symmetry! Though I am familiar with slippers at ryokans, I must say I never saw them arranged this way!!!

Excellent capture, it's really tidy, by color and certainly by size. After your stay, you can take your slippers? A beautiful picture interesting, great shot.
Have a good day.

@gerard1948: Thanks gerard - no the slippers stay behind, they are communal, you just slip on the next available pair. I'm sure the inn staff will clean them at some point!

Michael Rawluk from Williams Lake, BC, Canada

That makes a very interesting shot. Like part of a bigger story.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

These slippers always made me feel like I had the kid's size. My feet hang over the end.

@Steve Rice: Yes you have to walk with care Steve...
