Hitchin Lavender Farm, Hertfordshire

Posted by
Daryl Johnson (Worcester Park, United Kingdom) on 27 August 2013 in Landscape & Rural.

Back to the UK briefly - last week we visited this farm near London, which opens its lavender fields to the public over summer. More information here... http://hitchinlavender.com/home_english.html

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United Kingdom

According to my grandfather, there were once lavender fields in south London he remembered . . . thanks for the reminder.

Etsu from Kyoto, Japan

Stunning shot of the wonderful lavender field in excellent composition and DOF. Similar sight is probably seen in Hokkaido, Japan.

A stunning PoV captured here with leading lines that add incredible depth to this composition! Excellent contrasting colors as well. I've never heard of lavender farms before. Thanks for the link.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Endless rows....was it fragrant or not? Just because we went to Hokkaido several years ago, on one of our trips back to my husband's birthplace, and his brothers took us to a farm of lavender. Just a huge field, but the flowers were not yet in bloom - so...no fragrance! I love lavender! I love British lavender Eau de toilette - which I could find in shops here until a few years back. Not even L'Occitane ( a Provence company) produces this eau de toilette anymore! I wonder why?!

@Japanalia: It was certainly fragrant Gabriela, although I think we missed the peak time... plenty of such lavender products on sale in the farm shop there.

John Jungklaus from Chase Mills, NY, United States
