Scenes From Shodoshima Port

Posted by
Daryl Johnson (Worcester Park, United Kingdom) on 2 December 2015 in Transportation.

The islands of the Seto Inland Sea are linked by ferry services; this is regular transportation for the people and businesses of the region. The port on the island of Shodoshima was small, but pleasingly bustling.

I apologise in advance if I'm tardy with commenting on your blogs or returning comments during the week... I will get to you though!

An essential service for island living. Super shot of this sturdy looking ferry.

David from Takamatsu, Japan

Great shot of a rare sighting, Meon in Tonosho!
I've always wondered why it sometimes goes to Shodoshima/Teshima/Uno. I guess when the regular ferry is up for maintenance or something.

@David: I had no idea it was such an unusual sight David...

@L'Angevine: Merci L'Angevine!

David from Takamatsu, Japan

This ferry is called Meon 2 and its usual route is Takamatsu - Megijima - Ogijima. Only exceptionally it does the Uno - Teshima - Tonosho route (when the regular ferry is on maintenance, I assume).
